semester reflection

This semester in video we did four major projects. My two favorite projects were the procedure video and ONW now story. Since the procedure video was our first video of the semester it took a little longer, we had about two weeks to do this video. As a group we faced many challenges with the new cameras and refreshing our editing abilities but after getting started our group did well. We were given a lot of feedback on our storyboarding and timing so we did the storyboard again with more details to have a better plan. Throughout this project I learned a lot about the new cameras and set expectations for video this year. With the cheer project we only had a week. With this project we did not face a lot of challenges our group picked a continent topic and used our time well. The only challenge was writing the voice over but we all worked together and finally got it done. In this project I learned a lot about team work and time management. Overall I think my videos turned out good some w

ONW NOW Reflection

The project: This past week in e-Comm we were challenged to create a sophomore edition of ONW Now. First we got into groups and we assigned what type of story to create, my group was assigned a sports story. Then we storyboarded to plan timeframes and a b-roll plan. After filming and editing we started working on putting together the whole ONW now show. All of the anchors worked on writing a script  while the rest of the teams finished editing. Then we went downstairs to practice and film. What I Learned: Thought this process I learned it is really important to manage your time wisely. We only had a week to do this whole project so it was important t o get things done in time and meet deadlines. It was really hard to do a whole sports story all the way through in a week but since we did cheer who practices seventh hour it made it a little easier. I also learned how important it is to divide and conquer with jobs if everyone is given a individual task the team can accomplish more fa

Graphic Design Semester Performance Review

Infographic: Over the past three weeks in graphic design we started our final project for this semester, an infographic about a topic of our choosing. I choose to make mine about ice cream. After deciding on a topic we began with a few days of research. Next we diecided what material was the most important and made 10 simple rough drafts. After deciding which layout we liked the most we made a final sketch on paper including graphics, facts, and titles. Then we got on Adobe Illustrator to star creating or graphics. After all our graphics were finished we made a new 11x17 file and made our final inforgraphic adding the facts and titles to make it look complete.Throughout this project I have learned a lot about infographics and Adobe Illustrator. I learned it is very important to have multiple drafts to see many different layouts. I had an idea of a layout in mind but after making multiple sketches I decided on a  different layout. I also learned a lot about the pen tool which I had nev

Advanced Feature News Story

This week in e-Comm we were challenged to do another feature story to build on our last and improve our feature filming skills. My group after a few small setback decided to make our story about one of the foreign exchange students this year. We interviewed Lea Weible for our story. Lea is involved in international club, senior committee, and was on the girls tennis team. So on one of our planning days I wrote the questions and my other team looked for and tried to download some tennis highlights from the year. It was very hard to work around everyone's' schedule to find times to film, but eventually we got time to interview her and film international club during lunch. After finishing filming we started to edit and shortly realized we did not have enough b-roll so the editing process has been hard. This project was very hard for our group because it seemed like we never had everyone there and we did not communicate very well as a team so it seemed like one person was just
