Self-Portrait Artist Statement


In my self-portrait, I chose to represent myself by recording a video of myself playing the piano. I choose to do this as my self portrait because most people don't know that I play the piano. When we watched examples of other portraits in my class I was really inspired by Regan's because to take a baking video in two minutes probably took a lot of prior planning. This shows that Regan would be a great director to have on a team in the future.

There are many elements shown in my self portrait. I used books and a table sitting next to our piano to get my phone placed at the correct angle so your could see me and the piano. In addition I thought the reflection in the piano was cool so I tried to make it so you could also see my hands through the reflection. I also had to wait till the rain stopped so I would have good natural lighting form the window in that room.

In conclusion, I hope that by watching this my classmates learn that I am musically talented and that I have strong perseverance. I think that my video quality was pretty good but my piano was not the very best because I have not practiced in awhile. A challenge I faced while making this was getting a good angle of getting both the piano and myself in frame. Next time I might try to use a tripod and have someone film me so the camera can move and show different shots. Overall from making this and watching others I learned a lot about my classmates and basic filming techniques to improve my camera skills.

Music Video

• Embed your work at the top of your blog post under your Title. These past few weeks in video we worked on recreating the Bet on It video from High School Musical 2. As a group we thought this video would be really fun to create and challenging in many ways. We also had a good idea for locations already so we thought it would be do able. We started with pre-production by dividing up the work to be efficient and effective because we wanted to have as much times as we could to film. semester reflection

This semester in video we did four major projects. My two favorite projects were the procedure video and ONW now story. Since the procedure video was our first video of the semester it took a little longer, we had about two weeks to do this video. As a group we faced many challenges with the new cameras and refreshing our editing abilities but after getting started our group did well. We were given a lot of feedback on our storyboarding and timing so we did the storyboard again with more details to have a better plan. Throughout this project I learned a lot about the new cameras and set expectations for video this year. With the cheer project we only had a week. With this project we did not face a lot of challenges our group picked a continent topic and used our time well. The only challenge was writing the voice over but we all worked together and finally got it done. In this project I learned a lot about team work and time management. typography project

These past few weeks in graphic design we have been working on quotes in Adobe Illustrator for our typography project. We started by researching to find quotes the we liked and related to our lives. we only had to find four but at first I didn't love any of my quotes so I found about 10 and then picked my favorite four from that. then we looked at  daft.com and found fonts that we wanted to download to use in our quotes. the part was hard because a lot of the fonts I liked were similar. After the research process we started actually creating our quotes on illustrator.  First I started by typing out all my quotes in the original font. After that I organized each word and change the font then I added black and white graphics.
